Elizabeth Manoukian received her Bachelor of Arts in Music, Vocal Performance from Loyola Marymount University. From age four to eighteen, Elizabeth studied piano through the Suzuki method under Stella Saperstein and took private voice lessons in classical, contemporary and musical theater under Beth Hakes. During her middle and high school years, Elizabeth competed and medaled in numerous Arizona Sonatina and Ragtime festivals. At LMU she continued her private piano studies under acclaimed pianist Dr. Wojciech Kocyan and private vocal studies under Dr. Barbara Dyer.
For the past ten years Elizabeth has taught private piano and voice lessons independently along with teaching a variety of group music-enrichment classes. Elizabeth spent five years teaching music at Manhattan Beach Preschool where she directed 10+ successful concerts with over 300 preschoolers. Companies she has worked for in the LA area include Music Rhapsody and the Hills Academy of Music Art and Dance, and Performing Arts Workshops.
Elizabeth loves teaching students from toddlers to adults and refines her lesson plans to suit the unique age and ability of each student. Every piano and voice lesson includes ear training, music theory and technique exercises, along with learning pieces to perform and enjoy. Students are invited to perform in a recital in the winter and spring where they can build confidence as a performer and watch other students perform at a variety of levels.
Elizabeth’s “Sing and Play” group music classes are available to children as young as age 2. Each themed lesson includes instrument, movement and pitch matching activities. Elizabeth uses puppets, props, books and a variety of percussion instruments to create fun and engaging lessons that boost young children’s confidence and creativity through music. “Sing and Play” classes are based on the Orff Schulwerk method of music instruction that encourages the education of music through imitation, exploration, improvisation and composition.
As a vocalist, pianist, composer and teacher Elizabeth has over 25 years of experience. Elizabeth is so excited to make music a greater part of every student's life for years to come.
